Our volunteers are one of the most important pieces of LiftUp’s programs and services! In 2022, 365 volunteers gave 10,052 hours of their time!
Whether you help sort donations, arrange Thrift Store displays, stock Food Bank shelves, or garden in our greenhouse, you are helping neighbors in need.
General Volunteer Information
- Donation Center – volunteers process all the generous donations from our community. Service may include receiving, sorting, and pricing donations.
- Food Banks – volunteers help out by assisting clients in need, stocking shelves, and unloading deliveries from Food Bank of the Rockies. We also depend on volunteers to assemble Rocket Pack snack packs.
- Grocery & Restaurant Rescue – volunteers pick up food donated by participating grocery stores and restaurants, transport to our Steamboat Food Bank location and assist our staff in unloading it.
- Thrift Store – volunteers assist staff by stocking items, organizing shelves, and displaying goods.
- ProDo (Produce Donation) Drives – happen each month at City Market and is a great opportunity for groups. ProDo Drives help LiftUp provide fresh, healthy options to clients.

Volunteer Testimonials
Diane Holly, volunteer since 2019 (pictured with Donation Center Manager Chynna Wallace) – “I’m retired from ranching and LiftUp is my social club. There are so many great staff and volunteers working together to help the community. I’m the ultimate sorter and organizer, so the Donation Center is perfect for me. I’m their toy person since I have 4 grandchildren! I also volunteer in the Thrift Store to help with all the great things the community donates.”
Jackie Thornberry, volunteer since 2018 (pictured with Food Bank Manager Brian Benally) – “I love interacting with the clients in the Food Bank and Thrift Store. I love the close relationship of the staff and volunteers. I see big changes each time I visit, and they are always changes for the better. When you volunteer, you feel better, it blesses you!”
