Keri Searls, a local artist and art teacher currently working on her master’s in art and design at the University of Northern Colorado, is working with the Lift-Up Community Thrift Store on a fiber art installation project that will be hung in the Donation Center. Over the course of several months, she’ll create a series of installations using materials that have been donated to Lift-Up, and these materials will be assembled to create visual maps and narratives about our nonprofit.
She plans to show how the materials donated to Lift-Up are used to fund emergency assistance through the Food Bank and also provide low-cost items for community members. She’ll also tell the stories of the objects donated, and that’s where you (our biggest supporters) can help.
If you’d like to volunteer to tell your stories and anecdotes about Lift-Up, you can write them down on scraps of fabric or a sheet of paper at the Donation Center. If you’d prefer to email your story to Keri, you can send it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here are some things to know if you’re interested in sharing your story:
- Your story will remain anonymous.
- Your story will hopefully be in your own handwriting, but it doesn’t have to be! Feel free to email it to Keri at email@example.com.
- Your story can be in your native language.
- The stories can be as simple or complex as you like.
If you want to be notified when the piece is complete, email Keri or turn in your contact information with your story to the Donation Center. She’s looking forward to showing what a truly special place Lift-Up is in our community, and feel free to contact her with any questions you may have.
