Lift-Up of Routt County Executive Director David Freseman

After 13 years of service with Lift-Up of Routt County, Executive Director David Freseman is announcing his retirement, effective in September. Under his leadership, Lift-Up has seen tremendous growth in its client assistance programs. He also presided over Lift-Up during its move from its original location on Oak Street to the Lufkin Lift-Up Center on Curve Court.

Job description

REPORTS TO: The Board of Directors, Lift-Up of Routt County

SALARY: Annual salary plus benefit package

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION: Under the supervision of the Board of Directors, the executive director is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the nonprofit organization known as Lift-Up of Routt County, doing business as the Emergency Assistance and Food Bank Program, the Thrift Store Program, the South Routt Food Bank, and Hayden Food Bank.

A. Supervision of Operations

  1. Oversee all program sites
  2. Inventory maintenance
  3. Distribution of functional materials
  4. Design and maintenance of all accountability records
  5. Design and maintenance of training material
  6. Data collection and tracking mechanisms for statistical reporting
  7. Implementation of board policy, decisions, and direction

B. Financial Management and Leadership

  1. Prepare initial annual budget, implement and monitor budget at all times
  2. Prepare financial reports for treasurer and Board of Directors
  3. Approve bills and sign checks
  4. Oversee insurances, audit process and tax reporting
  5. Develop and maintain funding sources together with the board’s Fundraising Committee
  6. Generate revenue through fundraising, grant writing, sales, and donor cultivation and recognition

C. Public Relations and Community Outreach

  1. Coordination of Lift-Up programs/services with community organizations
  2. Preparation of public relation material
  3. Develop community awareness regarding the issues surrounding poverty in Routt County
  4. Conduct speaking engagements to promote funding and education regarding the needs of the poor and unemployed living in Routt County
  5. Maintain a positive image of Lift-Up in the community
  6. Develop cooperative working relationships with community partners and organizations

D. Program Management and Development

  1. Supervise and oversee all Lift-Up programs and services, and develop new programs
  2. Share in decision making, as appropriate, with the Food Bank manager regarding case work and assistance
  3. Work in concert with other community agencies impacting issues of poverty in Routt County

E. Human Resource, Personnel Management and Development

  1. Recruitment, hiring and ongoing supervision and evaluation of Lift-Up employees
  2. Design and implementation of human resource policies
  3. Volunteer recruitment, orientation, follow-up, and recognition programs
  4. Conduct ongoing staff meetings for employees, board members and volunteers

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-year degree or equivalent; or more than five years experience in nonprofit sector
  • Two years experience in the area of charitable assistance or a related field
  • Ability to analyze problems of an administrative nature and recommend solutions
  • Knowledge of office procedures and methods, office systems and record keeping
  • Knowledge of business communication, including various software packages
  • Interpersonal and communication skills for working with staff, volunteers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Ability to develop and maintain funding sources and community relations and image
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and with little supervision
